Ever since I joined WW back in December of 2016, I’ve been searching for good tips to lose and maintain weight. This Olive Oil sprayer is probably one of my best tips.
This simple olive oil sprayer has saved me a ton of calories over the years. In previous years prior to paying attention to my weight, I would just plop some oil in a pan, then add my food and often add more oil so the food wouldn’t stick. After joining WW, I quickly learned how many points all of that, “plopping,” cost me. One tablespoon of oil is 4 points!!! (or 119 calories). 4 points is a glass of wine for me! Would I rather have a glass of wine or 1 T. of oil? Um, that’s obvious especially if you know me!
The great thing about using the olive oil sprayer is that usually a few sprays of olive oil (0 points) does the job. When I sauté vegetables, I’ll spray a little in the pan, then I’ll spray the vegetables as well. If I use the Instant Pot, spraying is a must. Everything seems to stick to that metal pan. A few squirts and it’s done. So easy!
Here are the 3 benefits of using an olive oil sprayer:
- Saves a ton of calories
- You can use your favorite healthy oil – You put in your own oil, which means you can use really great tasting oil and not that artificial spray stuff.
- Adds flavor – You can add flavor by putting in flavored infused oils, another easy and low calorie way to add flavor to your food.
Purchasing the “right olive oil sprayer,” the first time
Of course you have to purchase the right olive oil sprayer. Originally I was recommending the Misto Olive Oil sprayer. I apologize for anyone buying them on my recommendation and having issues with it and the company. After owning several of the Misto ones and getting very disgusted, I have realized that they eventually fail. I finally have found one: Premium Olive Oil Mister and Cooking Sprayer with Clog-Free Filter and Glass Bottle by Chefvantage that I simply love. And if you ever have a problem, contact them and they will send you the replacement part. They have excellent customer service! I’m sure there may be other great ones out there, but so far this is my favorite! And the great thing is that it comes in different colors! I put regular extra virgin olive oil in the clear one, rosemary infused olive oil in the black colored one and basil infused oil in the red one. Happy spraying!
